Solid Grill & Bar

Nestled in the heart of BoDo, Solid Grill & Bar is definitely worthy of patio praise. They have an incredible summer cocktail menu featuring drinks like their Italian Spritz and the Thai Basil Kamikaze, with fresh muddled basil, lime, orange liqueur, and vodka. Daily live music and two happy hour specials every day of the week (4pm – 6pm and 10pm – midnight) makes Solid the place to be on these hot summer days…and nights!

The Matador

Every restaurant on 8th Street has a patio worth checking out, but with over 150 different tequila choices, The Matador Restaurant and Tequila Bar has put themselves on the map for one of our favorite summer spots. Along with one of the most extensive tequila selections in the valley, their made-from-scratch food is guaranteed to satisfy any craving. From grilled stuffed jalapenos to street tacos, Matador has it all. Bet you can’t finish their $5 dollar happy hour nachos (4pm – 6pm and 10pm – 1am). We dare you to try!

Cottonwood Grille

Cottonwood Grille has one of the most beautiful patios in town—surrounded by lush greens and the calming sounds of the Boise River. It is a perfect place to relax and unwind under the spring and summer sunshine. They’re rolling out a bunch of new seasonal menu options including drinks, appetizers, and entrees. Look for a new tasty seasonal cocktail menu soon with light, fruity drinks and beer releases from several local breweries. Cottonwood Grille likes to adapt their menu to the produce harvests and will be featuring delicious new menu items like Ahi Salad and Heirloom Tomatoes with Mozzarella. Whether you want gourmet fine dining or happy hour hot wings, Cottonwood Grille is the place to be this season! Happy hour: 3pm – 6pm everyday, 11am – 6pm on Saturday.

Payette Brewing

There’s nothing quite like a cold craft beer on a hot day! And to make things even more appealing, Payette’s delicious seasonal release, the Fly Line Vienna Lager, will be available all summer long. With the opening of Payette’s second location on River Street in Boise, they now produce more beer than any other local brewery in Idaho and what better place to enjoy their massive beer selection than in their grassy outdoor beer garden? This summer, they will be adding more to the garden including extra seating. Payette is also catered by local food trucks, including Genki Takoyaki and Burgerlicious. Stop in, grab a beer, play some cornhole, and listen to live music in Payette Brewing’s beer garden.

Prost!

Back on 8th Street, the land of the patios, is Prost! a German bar in the heart of Boise. With a large bier selection and a tantalizing menu like nothing else downtown, Prost! is authentic German cuisine. Some of our favorites are their Bratwurst Sandwich and Brotzeit Teller plate with assorted deli meats, veggies, and cheeses. A perfect pairing to their various weisses, dunkels, and maibocks. Almost nothing beats relaxing on their wooded patio, watching the world go by, with a liter of the Warsteiner Dunkel in hand, a dark malty lager with hints of caramel.

The Shed

The Shed, located on La Pointe Street near Ann Morrison Park, has the perfect atmosphere for all of your drinking and dining desires. They have sports promotions, TVs, brunch specials, and a full bar all in one great location. And just in time for warm weather, their back patio is undergoing a huge remodel and will be open in May. With seating of up to fifty people, The Shed should be a frequent patio spot this season. Satisfy your weekend brunch cravings on Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 1pm for $3 dollar mimosas and bloody mary’s. They have several vegan options available as well. To sweeten the pot, their daily happy hour (3pm – 6pm) features $1 off draft beer and wine, $3 wells, and $3 fireball shots. And of course, being so close to BSU, The Shed definitely shows love to the students with $2 daily domestics with student ID.

Piper Pub

On the other side of 8th street, upstairs, is Piper Pub, on the corner of 8th and Main. The large outdoor patio wraps around the building and provides the perfect setting for one of their specialty crafted cocktails and some people watching. Piper Pub honors the concept of community and creates an atmosphere around European ‘pub culture.’ Their encompassing menu features dishes for everyone, including their weekend brunch special from 11am – 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to their fun, inviting atmosphere, they have live music every Friday at 8 pm. Once you get settled in on their patio, be sure to check out their seasonal drink menu or try some grown-up razberi lemonade with Stoli Razberi, raspberry puree, and refreshing lemonade.

This list is by no means complete and there are so many more patios to check out this season! Others that we really love include Bittercreek, Red Feather, Juniper, Pengillys, Bardenay, Bar Gernika, Leku Ona, Taj Mahal, The Drink, Mulligans, The Sandbar, The Reef, 13th Street Pub, The Yardarm, Bodovino, The Beerhouse, The Modern Hotel, Prefunk, Barbarian Brewing, and so many more! Patio season is here—how many can you visit?
